Historical city Tholen

A 15-minute drive takes you to the historic city of Tholen, not to be confused with the municipality of Tholen and the island of the same name. This beautiful city with old city walls, historic monuments as well as a protected cityscape is definitely worth a visit when you stay at Chaletparc Krabbenkreek. Tholen was founded in the 13th century and owes its name to the fact that tolls could be levied here.

When visiting Tholen, you’ll see that the remnants of the city walls around the city center are star-shaped. The corn mill “De Hoop”, built in 1736, is still in use. You can visit this monument every Saturday or when the mill is turning.

The city is great for exploring on your own, but you can also follow a guided city tour organized by the tourist information office. Once you’ve seen all the sites, you can rest your feet while drinking a cold beverage on one of the many terraces in the city.
